Course Overview
Few subjects are more important—or more misunderstood—than the Kingdom of God.
Jesus spoke about the Kingdom throughout His ministry. He announced that it was near, taught about it in parables, and told His followers to seek it first. Yet Christians have long disagreed about what the Kingdom is and when it began.
Is the Kingdom something still future?
Or is Christ reigning now?
Rather than beginning with popular theories or theological systems, we'll begin where the Bible begins. We'll follow the story of the Kingdom from God's promises in the Old Testament to their fulfillment in Jesus Christ and the teaching of the apostles.
Along the way we'll ask questions such as:
What did the prophets promise?
What did Jesus mean when He said, "The Kingdom of God is at hand"?
When did Christ become King?
How does the Kingdom relate to the church?
What does it mean to live under Christ's rule today?
And how will God's Kingdom reach its final and glorious fulfillment?
As always, our goal is not to defend a particular system of theology but to understand the biblical text in its context and allow Scripture to interpret Scripture.
