Christians have worshiped God for two thousand years, yet sincere believers often disagree about what God asks of us when we gather together. Some differences are matters of judgment. Others involve questions of biblical authority.
Before deciding what churches should do in worship, we should first ask a more basic question:
What has God actually revealed in His Word?
In this course we will examine the New Testament's teaching about worship in its context. We'll look at why Christians assemble, the place of singing, the difference between an aid and an addition, the use of instrumental music, the example of the early church, the Lord's Supper, prayer, giving, and teaching.
Our purpose is not to defend tradition or criticize those who disagree. Our goal is to let the Scriptures speak for themselves and follow wherever they lead.
Each lesson builds on the one before it, so they are best read in order.
